About Alcorn State University

Alcorn State University is the nation’s oldest, historically black, land-grant university (HBCU) and the second oldest public university in Mississippi.

Alcorn State offers bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees in more than 50 top-degree programs.

Located on 1700 acres in Lorman, Mississippi, with branches in Vicksburg and Natchez, the University is celebrating 150 years of academic excellence.

Alcorn State University is nationally ranked as top-20 Best HBCU by U.S. News and World Report.

In addition to its generous scholarship opportunities, Alcorn’s tuition and fees are among the lowest in the region.

The University is ranked among all HBCUs as the most affordable for online bachelor’s (no. 3), online master’s (no. 8), and bachelor’s (no. 13).

In another national ranking, it is ranked second for the most affordable online master’s degree in biology.

Outside of the classroom, students are involved in NCAA Division I athletics as well as more than 60 organizations and clubs, including student-run radio and television stations, study abroad, and the 200-strong Sounds of Dyn-O-Mite Marching Band.

Finding the right college for you is as much about “feel” as anything.

That’s why we encourage you to visit our beautiful campus.

When you visit, you will see what we mean when we talk about becoming part of the Alcorn family.
