Alcorn State University is the nation's first historically black land grant institution. On these 1000s of acres on which we sit is an education that's based in agriculture, which is why one of our hallmark programs is Agriculture and Applied Sciences.
STEM is in our DNA. It's who we are. Course offerings are varied. Partnerships across biology and chemistry and physics, whatever it is a student wants to study -- it is possible. As an agriculture major, there are a lot of sciences we have to take. And so with those, you do have to do a lot of mathematics, a lot of calculations, and a lot of experimentation. It sharpens your analytical skills, your mathematics skills, and stuff that will help you become a great engineer.
When you think about the natural and the physical sciences. You think about the lab work. But when we bring in the partnerships that we have in Ag and you bring in the fieldwork that takes place on our campus, we really do offer a solid experience in our STEM spaces both inside and outside our classroom. Upon graduation from Alcorn State University, the industry is getting graduates who are ready to go to work day one, who are prepared to deal with critical issues.
