Family Dynamic

I came here from Jamaica in 2018 and it was quite an interesting experience, I will say. Luckily, I did come with a friend so she and I made it through the first year by making new friends, friends who had cars, friends who are able to travel with us to Walmart, to different stores, to get the things that we needed. Those were the students that really took us in.

Our condos have a very large international student community. And honestly, that really helps me in terms of ensuring I feel like a home away from home.

I always go to the Global Programs like it's the place where I know people can support me. It's the staff that can support me. They're always checking if we need something and always eager to help us. They are the people that support us here. And I feel like everything we always needed was provided.

IKONOS organizes a lot of activities that incorporate cultures from different countries. Now that brings a sense of togetherness when everyone learns about the other's cultures that visit that helps us with our tolerance for each other. And that also helps to see bring that sense of humor.

I was exposed to all kinds of people and I made a lot of friends. So the family environment that you experience when you come here is actually true. Once you go out of your room, go out of your comfort zone you'll find your code.
